As the tech world descends on Helsinki for Slush 2024, Estonia is adding its own distinctive flavour to one of Europe’s biggest startup events.
Titled “Finno-Ugricism 2.0.24”, this year’s side event will be like no other, with Estonia’s Minister of Culture Heidy Purga showing her versatility by transitioning from policy discussions to playlist curation at the gathering.
Set to take place November 20th at the Estonian Embassy in Helsinki, the event will dive into the fascinating intersection of CreativeTech and DeepTech, examining how these forces are reshaping digital economies and cultural landscapes across the Finno-Ugric world. Leading the charge in this discussion will be Minister Purga herself, joined by prominent Finnish entrepreneur and investor Ronny Eriksson.
Eve Peeterson, Head of Innovation at Enterprise Estonia, will moderate what promises to be an engaging dialogue between these two Nordic tech and cultural powerhouses. But that’s just the warm-up act. Full agenda:
- 17:00-17:30: Gathering and pre-party networking
- 17:30-18:00: Official discussions
- 18:00-20:00: Minister Purga takes to the decks
Estonia and Finland have been the closest allies in both cultural and technological advancement, sharing not just linguistic roots but also a vision for digital innovation. The renowned X-Road data exchange system, pioneered by Estonia and adopted by Finland, is a testament to this collaboration. Now, it’s time to prove that this spirit can mix business and fun.
