According to the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, at least 66 countries and territories across the globe have decided to postpone national and subnational elections due to COVID-19. Estonia is none of those countries thanks to its secure internet voting that has been available since 2005. It allows voters to cast their ballots, be it in local, national or even European Parliament elections, from any internet-connected computer anywhere in the world.
Two experts will be joining the host Florian Marcus – Sven Heiberg, i-voting Product Manager at Cybernetica and Arne Koitmäe, Head of the State Electoral Office. Together, they will discuss how the i-voting system was developed in Estonia, what makes it unique in the world and also what challenges the system has faced over the years.
Tune in on Thursday, 18.06. at 3pm Estonian time so you, too, can ask your questions about how i-voting works and how you can make it happen in your home country as well.
