The costs of running a world rally team are high with even one rear spoiler of a rally car costing several thousand euros, according to the newspaper. With 0% corporate income tax on reinvested or retained profits, Estonia’s tax system offers a considerable advantage over that of Finland.
At the same time, teamleader Tommi Mäkinen stresses the logistical reasons for the move. For a WRC team it is much easier to operate across Europe and the World from Estonia than from Central Finland. So, the team’s home base will be split in two with half of the operations in Estonia.
Toyota’s main base in Estonia will be ready next year.
