Estonian boatmaker invests over €1 million in production and product development

Estonian boatmaker Ceranos Invest is investing over €1M to expand production, develop Seastorm boats and refinance existing obligations.

Estonian boatmaker Ceranos Invest is investing over €1M to expand production, develop new products and refinance existing obligations at its Raasiku operation.

The company sells small motorboats internationally under the Seastorm brand and is directing the investment towards strengthening its production activities and product development, writes Tööstusuudised.

Building production around an Estonian base

The investment comes as Ceranos Invest expands beyond its established marine-kayak business and develops motorboats for international customers. A report by Capitalia said its financing helped the company build a new production unit and expand its production line, enabling Ceranos Invest to begin producing motorboats alongside its earlier product range.

Marili Mugamäe said the company considers its Estonian production base central to maintaining control as the business grows. “For us, it is important that both production and product development take place in Estonia, because this allows us to maintain greater control over the processes,” she said.

The planned spending combines three business priorities: increasing production activity, developing products and refinancing existing obligations. Together, these measures are intended to give the company a stronger base for the next stage of Seastorm’s growth while keeping manufacturing and product development in Raasiku.

Developing boats for international markets

Seastorm boats are made from polyethylene containing UV stabilisers and produced using rotational moulding. Each hull is formed as one piece, a production method the company says gives the boats resistance to shocks, impacts, temperature changes and strong sunlight while keeping maintenance requirements low.

The boats are made from recyclable materials and are designed for both leisure and professional use. The current range includes four models suited to inshore freshwater and coastal saltwater boating, giving the company a product portfolio that can serve different types of customers in international markets.

The Raasiku operation is therefore being developed around both manufacturing and engineering capabilities. By keeping those activities in Estonia, Ceranos Invest can manage the production process and product development together as it works to grow the Seastorm brand abroad.

The investment also reflects the company’s shift from a marine-kayak producer into a broader manufacturer of small recreational and professional boats. Expanding the production line and continuing product development will allow Ceranos Invest to build on its existing technical expertise while pursuing further international sales.
