Estonian entrepreneurs keep making big bets on AI, with new success stories coming. Last week, Tallinn-based Flowstep closed a €2.2M seed funding round. The startup, which develops an AI-native canvas for design workflows, plans to use the funding to exit beta, expand its team, and launch enterprise features while targeting U.S. markets.

London-based Supernode Global led the deal, joined by several notable investors, including Adesso Ventures, Angel Invest, Dnipro VC, and Iron Wolf Capital. Previous pre-seed investors also joined the round, including Tera Ventures, Specialist VC, Thomas Wolf from Hugging Face, and Elias Aalto from Wolt. This brings Flowstep’s total funding to €3.8M since its founding.

Founded in 2023 by an international team of Matt Clannachan (UK), Svyat Polishchuk (Ukraine), Sami Nieminen (Finland), and Kaarel Roben (Estonia), Flowstep addresses a growing problem in digital product development. While AI has transformed coding through “vibe coding” — where developers prompt AI to generate 30-50% of new code — design has remained a bottleneck.

“Flowstep empowers teams to design at the speed of thought,” explains CEO Matt Clannachan. “Instead of designers adjusting their creativity to fit rigid tools, our platform adapts to the natural way teams think, accelerating ideation and iteration.”

Flowstep introduces what it calls “vibe design” — a new paradigm that puts design at the centre of product development. Unlike other AI design tools that focus on automation and rapid code generation from vague prompts, Flowstep puts augmentation first.

The platform helps teams move from initial idea to production-quality design up to ten times faster while maintaining quality, usability, and creativity. It generates detailed user flows, rapid wireframes, and pixel-perfect designs from simple prompts, all on an infinite canvas that gives designers full editing control. It uses LLMs, reinforcement learning and proprietary computer vision.

Flowstep currently employs eight people. The team is now focusing on scaling their go-to-market strategy and accelerating AI research and development. The seed funding will support key engineering hires, expanded product development, and the introduction of enterprise-grade features, including enhanced governance, security, and compliance capabilities.
