In today’s world, world-class human capital means acquittance with AI, and Estonia isn’t shy to adopt it, keeping up with its title as a digital-first nation. According to the new data from Statistics Estonia, nearly 50% of internet users in the country have already integrated artificial intelligence into their daily routines.
According to the latest internet use and digital skills survey released in September 2025, Estonian internet users are actively leveraging AI solutions for writing text, searching for information, and creating content. Urban areas show slightly higher adoption rates, with just over half of city dwellers using AI tools, while rural adoption rates remain competitive with no significant gap.
Overall, Estonia now boasts 564,800 households with internet connections—representing 95% of all households—marking an increase of 20,000 connected homes compared to 2024. The digital divide continues to narrow, particularly among older demographics, with internet usage jumping five percentage points among 55-64 year-olds and six percentage points among 65-74 year-olds in just one year.
With 100% governmental services available online, the country is a real showcase of digitally mature society, with 92% of internet users conduct banking online, and nearly half utilize public database and registry services. And for the AI-powered age, the skills are now forged right in the school class — this year, the country has agreed to integrate AI products into its entire secondary education system through a groundbreaking partnership with OpenAI and Anthropic.
