Valga is a town in South Estonia and the capital of Valga County, with a population of about 13,000. The total population of Valga-Valka twin town (with Valka situated on the Latvian side of the Estonia-Latvia border) is about 19,000. As both countries have joined the Schengen Agreement, the movement between Valga and Valka is easy and border checks are not needed.
Valga has passenger train connections to Tallinn (245 km away) and Tartu (89 km), as well as Riga in Latvia (175 km).
