Estonian-built self-driving buses going international: starting work in Finland, Greece to follow

Estonia’s self-driving vehicle producer Auve Tech and Finland’s leading operator of autonomous vehicles Roboride will start operating in Finland’s city of Tampere. According to the producer, operations in Greece will follow.

“The goal is to prove that these futuristic, autonomous, electric motor driven vehicles can be a part of our everyday city life,” the CEO of Roboride Tatu Nieminen commented. “Together with Auve Tech, we are creating a safe, environmentally friendly and affordable mobility solution for the people.”

The CEO of Auve Tech Johannes Mossov said that the cooperation with the Finnish operator is an important milestone for the company. “Our goal is to make everyday mobility faster, more comfortable and greener all across the globe,” he added.

Auve Tech’s minibuses have eight seats and are planned to cover last mile transportation needs. The self-driving vehicles are comfortable and do not create much noise. This means that they can be used in areas where the use of internal combustion engine driven vehicles is limited.

In Estonia, the bus can already be used in the Ülemiste City business district of Tallinn. It is expected that in the nearest future, operations will also begin in Greece.

Auve Tech currently employes more than 40 employees.
