For Estonia, there’s no neighbour as strategic and important as Finland — aside from the historical and cultural ties, the country leads in the ranking of trade and investment partners. Strengthening these ties is more important than ever.
Last week, Minister of Economy and Industry Erkki Keldo Erkki Keldo led a dynamic Estonian business delegation to Finland on November 3-4, bringing together leading tech companies and industry leaders to deepen cross-border partnerships and explore new opportunities in innovation and manufacturing.
The two-day visit centred on the Finnish-Estonian Business Forum “Smart Neighbours: Future of Industry,” where Ministers Keldo and Finland’s Sakari Puisto talked about the robust economic partnership between the two nations. The forum featured a standout panel discussion with industry heavyweights Risto Siilasmaa (WithSecure, F-Secure), Sten Tamkivi (Plural, Skaala), and Jussi Herlin (KONE), moderated by Kirke Maar from AI & Robotics Estonia.

“Finland is one of Estonia’s primary export partners, and our companies collaborate across multiple sectors – from energy and industry to IT and education,” Keldo emphasized. “Every new investment or partnership creates added value for both sides and helps make the entire Baltic Sea region’s economy stronger and smarter.”
The delegation gained exclusive access to Finland’s industrial giants, with site visits to ABB, Nokia, and KONE – companies that have significant investments and operations in Estonia. These meetings focused on expanding cooperation and exploring future investment opportunities in Estonia’s innovation-friendly business environment.
The program also included participation in the Teknologia trade fair, Finland’s second-largest industrial exhibition, and Cyber Security Nordic events. The visit concluded with award ceremonies for the Robotex and Cybercation competitions, initiatives aimed at developing young people’s skills in technology and engineering.

Fifteen Estonian companies joined the mission, spanning robotics, AI, digital solutions, and industrial technology: Bamboo Group, Coursy Technology, Creatomus Solutions, Devdelux, Digilogistics Center of Excellence, Flowit Estonia, Krabu Grupp, Nortal, OIXIO Group, Processa Technologies, Proekspert, ReSys, Wemply, Robotex Estonia, and AI & Robotics Estonia.
The delegation was accompanied by Estonia’s Ambassador to Finland, Janne Jõesaar-Ruusalu, and Enterprise Estonia board member Mari-Liis Küppar. The visit was organized jointly by Enterprise Estonia, the Embassy of Estonia in Helsinki, and the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications.
