Estonian Clevon to bring more driverless delivery robots to Lithuania

Estonian driverless innovator Clevon is expanding its presence in Lithuania, adding 25 new robots and aiming for a broader European expansion by 2026.

Estonian driverless innovations are having a good start in 2024. Robot delivery leader Starship Technologies recently raised €84M to expand globally. Now Clevon is making waves in Lithuania, where the company operates since 2023.

Clevon and LastMile have agreed to work together to bring 25 driverless delivery robots to Lithuania’s public roads in 2025. This goal aims to expand the robot courier delivery service from Vilnius to other cities in Lithuania, providing an innovative and environmentally friendly way for IKI Supermarket shoppers to receive their online orders.

In 2024, both partners will work on improving operations and technology to facilitate expansion. By deploying 25 more Clevon’s driverless robots, LastMile aims to enhance delivery efficiency, meet market demands, and reduce operational costs.

The partnership between Clevon’s couriers and LastMile’s online ordering platform is key to expanding into Europe in 2026. The expansion will be done in collaboration with REWE Group and will follow the successful model used in Lithuania.

“Our initial successes demonstrate a shared commitment with Clevon towards enhancing delivery efficiency and sustainability. It’s about leveraging technology to better meet our customers’ needs, with both companies aligned in our goals for innovation,” said Tadas Norušaitis, CEO of LastMile.

Sander Sebastian Agur, CEO of Clevon, added, “Seeing our joint efforts come to fruition naturally sets the stage for what’s next. It’s a clear sign that the future of delivery leans heavily on smart, autonomous solutions.”

Clevon and LastMile’s recent collaboration in driverless delivery services was highly successful. In 136 days, their robotic couriers completed 500+ deliveries and traveled 5100+ kilometers without any safety incidents.

This achievement was acknowledged with LastMile receiving the “Innovation of the Year” award at the Green Mobility Awards and Clevon winning the “Transport Innovation of the Year” at the Parcel & Postal Technology International Awards 2023.
