Estonian engineering talent extends far beyond pure software, with multiple companies making significant strides in smart manufacturing and robotics.
As a result, Estonian-made autonomous shuttles are already cruising the streets in Florida, and Estonian-made innovative solar panels are up and selling in the US too. Now one more name is taking on a quest to conquer the world’s biggest consumer market across the Atlantic, with an autonomous tech of a different kind — Estonian home robot manufacturer Schbot Robotics is taking a major step for the company and is starting exports to the United States. This was announced by the company’s CEO, Maarius Tiits.
According to him, the first Schbot devices are on their way to New York. “It’s scary at times, because every step like this is a risk and responsibility and uncertainty — but it can’t make much difference whether I send the goods to Türi or New York!” Tiits noted. For those unfamiliar with local geography, Türi is a town in Järva County, East Estonia.
Schbot produces high-quality intelligent home robots focusing on several applications:
- Robot vacuum/mop hybrids (Schbot S‑series, F1/F1 Max/F2 Pitbox) for floor vacuuming and washing, controlled via smartphone app and designed for “set and forget” use.
- Window cleaning robots (Wind X1, X2, X3 Spray) that attach to glass and automatically clean windows, for flats and houses with large or hard‑to‑reach windows.
The company is already selling its products in several EU countries and has reported close to €2M in turnover in 2024, according to the open data. Schbot started in 2020, assembling an experienced team to deliver a more personalised cleaning technology.
“We used to work with our team on high-quality cleaning machines, and almost every time our customers said at the time of purchase that your products are mega-good, but they have one disadvantage: they do not work for me. From there, the idea was born to bring people more to their fast-paced lifestyle”, says the company’s website. Fast-forward to now, and they are setting their sights on competing in the USA.
