According to daily Postimees the line at the North Estonia Medical Centre will help decrease the number of vehicles near the hospital and will bring the bus stops nearer to the medical centre.
The bus line at the port will make it easier for travelers to commute between terminals.
Self-driving shuttles have been used in Estonia for passenger transportation before. They were first introduced as part of the Estonian Presidency of the Council of the EU, which considered the development of technology and its impact on society a priority area.
This time the buses will start servicing the lines as a part of SOHJOA Baltic program led by the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences.
