Skeleton listed among world’s best GreenTech companies

Estonian startup Skeleton Technologies lands on TIME's Top GreenTech Companies list, making it to the top 30.

Tallinn-based Skeleton Technologies has secured a spot on TIME Magazine’s inaugural list of the World’s Top GreenTechCompanies, ranking 30th out of 250 global corporations.

The company also occupies a unique spot as both the first European business in the Energy Storage & Distribution category and the only supercapacitor manufacturer to appear in the ranking. TIME and data firm Statista evaluated over 8,000 companies to compile the list, considering factors such as positive environmental impact, financial strength, and innovation. Topping the list is Vermont-based BETA Technologies, which produces battery-powered aircraft.

“It is a great pleasure to be included in TIME Magazine’s World’s Top GreenTech Companies of 2025,” said Taavi Madiberk, CEO and Co-founder of Skeleton Technologies. “This is a major recognition of not only our technological leadership but also our team’s relentless work.”

Skeleton Technologies specialises in high-power, fast-charging energy storage solutions through its advanced supercapacitor technology. Unlike conventional batteries, supercapacitors can rapidly charge and discharge while withstanding significantly more cycles, making them ideal for specific applications.

The company’s innovations have found their way into several critical sectors. Their supercapacitors help stabilise Germany’s electrical grid, support nuclear fusion research, and make AI data centres more energy-efficient while increasing computing power. They also contribute to improvements in transportation systems and reductions in carbon emissions across automotive and industrial applications.

“Our solutions are the backbone of both the AI and the green energy revolution, and with the presence of several AI companies in this ranking, TIME also underlines these two revolutions are deeply intertwined,” says Madiberk.

Founded in 2009, Skeleton Technologies now employs more than 300 people across multiple locations. The company maintains its headquarters and electrical engineering operations in Tallinn, Estonia, while its manufacturing facilities are located in Saxony and its materials development in Saxony-Anhalt, Germany. Its new factory will be built in Toulouse in southern France.

The firm collaborates with some of the world’s largest companies, from European automotive manufacturers and industrial equipment providers to truck fleet operators and aerospace contractors. It was also voted as the most probable future unicorn of Estonian origin.
