The mayor of Tartu Urmas Klaas said in the City Council’s press release that he is happy that such an investment landed in Tartu, the second-largest city in Estonia internationally known mainly for its role as the education and science capital of Estonia. “Tartu is Estonia’s center for biotechnology and smart, science-based entrepeneurship has great opportunities for development in this university city,” Klaas said.
TBD-Biodiscovery has more than 40 highly qualified employees, a third of whom has a doctoral degree. 95 per cent of the company’s production and services is exported, main export markets being the Netherlands, Germany, Latvia, Israel and South Korea.
