Unikie, which develops autonomous driving technology, industrial artificial intelligence and automation solutions, as well as secure connectivity solutions, aims for strong international growth. The company currently employs more than 400 experts in five countries in Europe and North America.
“There is a growing demand for our technology expertise and solutions, e.g. in automotive, aerospace, ports, logistics centres and cruise ships around the world. We decided to invest in Estonia because of its highly skilled workforce and a great business environment for a growth company like ours. The new development unit in Estonia will significantly strengthen our operations and expertise. We would like to thank the Estonian Investment Agency for their help and advice, and for connecting us with local partner companies, ”commented Ville Ilves, the Director of Unikie Estonia.
“It’s great to have an international technology company like Unikie in Estonia that is an attractive market for investments in the automotive industry. Volkswagen is already developing its car software here and Daimler has also invested in Estonia,” says Kaspar Kork, the Director of the Estonian Investment Agency. He believes that Estonia’s dedication to digitalisation, good reputation in the technology sector and quick action from the Estonian Investment Agency are the reasons why Estonia has become Unikie’s new expansion destination.
Unikie has achieved a significant position as a partner of leading car manufacturers. Two weeks ago, at the IAA Mobility 2021 exhibition in Munich, one of the biggest events in the automotive industry, Unikie was showcasing its automated parking solution with automotive giants BMW, Ford, Jaguar-Land Rover and Mercedes Benz in a joint venture of German Association of the Automotive Industry – VDA.
Unikie’s technology combines sensor data from different sources and uses AI to turn this data into information that can then be used in the real-time steering of devices, vehicles and processes. The use of AI makes it possible, for example, to steer a car entirely without a driver. In other industries, Unikie’s technologies enable constant, monitored steering of the process line, whereas operations in ports, for instance, can be optimised by sharing real-time synchronised data between different parties.
