Europe’s largest tech event is right around the corner — just a two-hour ferry ride away from Tallinn, in Helsinki, Slush conference is soon gathering the best investors and startups. As usual, Estonian present is strong at the event on the multiple fronts.
Top-50 startups
Estonian-Swiss cleantech startup Zerofy has been selected as one of the top 50 startups out of 1,000 applicants. Founded by Criss Uudam and Till Quack, Zerofy has developed a software platform that helps households reduce their carbon footprint through intelligent energy management.
The company’s solution connects and optimizes various home energy devices including solar panels, electric vehicle chargers, heat pumps, and smart appliances – all without requiring additional hardware installation. Zerofy’s platform currently integrates with over 500 devices from dozens of brands, helping households optimize their energy consumption, solar utilization, and EV charging through smart algorithms.
The selection for Slush’s top 50 follows several other recent milestones for the company. In June 2024, Zerofy raised an oversubscribed funding round from investors including 2°C Ventures, SICTIC, and Union labs. The company has also been selected for the Google for Startups Climate Tech Accelerator program.
With operational headquarters in Tallinn and presence in Zurich, Zerofy is actively expanding across European markets. The company has received support from Enterprise Estonia through a €50,000 DeepTech business development grant for market testing and expansion.
Finno-Ugricism 2.0.24
Estonia is also co-hosting its very own event. Titled “Finno-Ugricism 2.0.24”, it will be a truly unique thing, with Estonia’s Minister of Culture Heidy Purga showing her versatility by transitioning from policy discussions to playlist curation at the gathering.
Set to take place November 20th at the Estonian Embassy in Helsinki, the event will dive into the intersection of CreativeTech and DeepTech, examining how these forces are reshaping digital economies and cultural landscapes across the Finno-Ugric world. Leading the charge in this discussion will be Minister Purga herself, joined by prominent Finnish entrepreneur and investor Ronny Eriksson.
