Estonian HealthTech Certific announced a successful €700,000 funding round. Led by FIRSTPICK, Change Ventures, and Heartfelt VC, along with previous investors, this investment aims to help Certific to accelerate growth and expand into new markets.
Founded in 2020 by entrepreneur Liis Narusk, Wise co-founder Taavet Hinrikus, and medical technologist Dr. Jack Kreindler, Certific has come a long way from its initial focus on remote COVID-19 testing. The company has since pivoted to address broader challenges in healthcare, particularly in primary care. Certific’s flagship product, a patient relationship and clinical data management platform, has gained impressive traction since its launch 18 months ago. The platform now boasts a 28% market share in Estonia and has earned high praise from clients.
“As much as 40% of healthcare involves admin and doctors having to do repetitive tasks. This should not be the case, and Certific’s new platform is designed to take these tasks out of the hands of medical staff,” Narusk had noted earlier this year.
Andra Bagdonaite, partner at Lithuanian VC firm FIRSTPICK, expressed enthusiasm about the investment: “We are excited to expand our Estonian portfolio with the addition of Certific. The outstanding team behind Certific, led by Liis, Helena, Andres, and Keir, brings deep expertise and a truly innovative approach to digital health solutions. They are tackling a critical challenge in the healthcare industry—reducing the documentation burden on clinicians—based on their first-hand experiences.”
In a move to strengthen its leadership, Certific has elevated three long-term team members to co-founder status:
1. Helena Volmer, overseeing operations and sales
2. Dr. Andres Lasn, serving as medical director
3. Keir Volas, leading technology and product development
“The idea for the product came from real life as I saw the existing solutions didn’t solve the inefficiencies in patient-doctors communication and just caused more administrative burden. I’m excited to join Certific as a co-founder and to help take this rocket ship to the next level and make the lives of patients and healthcare workers around the world a little bit easier,” says Dr. Andres Lasn, formerly a family physician.
While original co-founders Taavet Hinrikus and Jack Kreindler have stepped back from operational roles, they remain as advising investors, ensuring continuity and strategic guidance.
