Estonian startup Qminder has raised its first institutional investment of €3M in seed funding, following a decade of successful bootstrapping. The round was led by Practica Capital, with participation from Jaan Tallinn’s Metaplanet, BADideas.fund syndicate, and angel investors from prominent tech companies, including Toggl, Veriff, Pipedrive, Wise, and Twilio.
Founded by Rauno Rüngas and Siim Raud back in 2011, Qminder has developed a platform that transforms how businesses manage in-person customer service. The solution, which has already served over 70M customers in 40+ countries, streamlines everything from initial check-ins to wait time monitoring, serving sectors ranging from retail to healthcare and government services. The platform’s automated system handles customer communication and navigation, allowing staff to concentrate on personalised service experiences.
The problem Qminder addresses is significant: in-person service locations, such as government offices and urgent care facilities, typically spend up to $2M annually per location on service management and measurement. Qminder’s Service Intelligence platform helps organisations optimise these operations through data-driven insights and comprehensive analytics.
“We’re seeing a shift in our client base,” notes CEO Rauno Rüngas. “While we initially attracted front-line staff looking to manage individual locations, we’re now engaging with VP-level decision-makers and customer experience consultants who want to implement systematic solutions from the start.”
The company has already established impressive credentials, counting major corporations like Hertz, American Express, and Delta among its clients. With this new funding, Qminder plans to accelerate platform development, expand the team, scale operations (particularly in the US) and focus on growth in government and healthcare sectors.
The company is also not shying away from big hires, recently taking on board talent from companies like Pipedrive, Katana, and Veriff. “Qminder’s approach to optimising in-person service delivery directly addresses a critical need in customer service. We see potential not only in their scalable solution but also in the strength and vision of the Qminder team, who bring valuable expertise and commitment to transforming customer experiences,” commented Donatas Keras, Partner at Practica Capital.
