High-tech circuits in twenty-four hours from order to delivery? The electronics sector of today is competitive, but Estonia has a lot to offer in the industry for international investors.

Indian electronics manufacturer Polymatech Electronics Limited has acquired and revitalised a printed circuit board factory in Paide, East Estonia. According to Tarja Rapala-Virtanen, one of the original owners, the Chennai-based company purchased the Brandner Electronics facility in early August after extensive negotiations. The acquisition price is not disclosed, but the media cite $116M worth of investments.

The deal shows Polymatech’s ambitious push into European markets, with production expected to resume by late September. “We will restart the factory and begin producing the same products as before, then we plan to expand, make new investments, and increase capacity and volumes,” Rapala-Virtanen told Estonian public broadcaster ERR. The facility has space for additional equipment, and the acquisition includes both the existing building and land, providing room for future expansion.

The Estonian operation will serve as Polymatech’s European manufacturing hub. It can produce up to 50,000 square meters of multi-layer high-density interconnect PCBs annually from its 10,000-square-foot cleanroom equipped with advanced European machinery.

The facility promises delivery times as short as 24 hours to accommodate current market demands and expectations. It will produce advanced configurations up to 48 layers, designed for high-frequency applications and complex interconnections required by cutting-edge technology products.

“These boards are used in all kinds of electronic devices, from phones to computers. They are their main component,” explained Urmas Aruoja, the facility’s executive director. The plant will initially employ 22 workers, with management prioritising local hiring to minimise transportation and logistical challenges.

“Our European-made PCBs, crafted with European expertise and adhering to the highest quality standards, are in high demand across various high-end applications,” said Eswara Rao Nandam, Polymatech’s chief executive. The company targets premium mobile phone manufacturers alongside critical sectors including defence, aerospace, automotive electronics, and semiconductor manufacturing.
