Past event: sTARTUp Day 2024 to mix startups, investors and culture

This year's sTARTUp Day is set to discuss DeepTech and navigating challenges, all while Tartu is doubling as a cultural hotspot during the European Capital of Culture 2024 celebrations.

Estonia, hosting Europe’s highest per capita number of startups and startup unicorns, is also a land of productive tech gatherings. Each year, two flagship events take place — Latitude59, in Tallinn at the end of May, and sTARTUp Day, happening in Tartu at the end of January.

sTARTUp Day festival brings together nearly 4,000 attendees in the university town of 100,000 inhabitants to forge business connections and celebrate entrepreneurship. It’s the place to be — the city of Tartu is emerging as a thriving startup hub with a big emphasis on DeepTech, powered by the nurturing environment of the University of Tartu and its research centres.

In 2024, sTARTUp Day overlaps with the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 opening celebrations, filling Tartu with international guests and a festive atmosphere for a whole week.

DeepTech and beyond

sTARTUp Day organisers believe that the best business deals are made while having a good time. The three-day festival, therefore, combines an inspiring stage program, vibrant side events, a bustling expo area, pitching battles, and excellent networking opportunities.

The 8th edition focuses on survival strategies and navigating challenging times. The program covers many other topics, including DeepTech, marketing and brand development, organization culture, sustainable entrepreneurship and career stories with unexpected twists.

The main festival venue on January 25-26 is located at the University of Tartu Sports Hall. On Day Zero, more than 20 side events will take place all over the city, including Investor Day, an exclusive meetup for investors in Hotel Lydia, and a VIP reception in Kammivabrik Factory.

The investors and attending startups can easily connect in the Brella app before or during the festival to set up meetings in the festival’s matchmaking area.
